HOW TO WRITE A BOOK PROPOSAL
MANUSCRIPT MAKEOVERS COVER SHEET
HOW TO SELL MANUSCRIPTS AT WTP

This service is available only to people who attend the conference. Do not send a manuscript for evaluation before you register or without a completed cover sheet.

Manuscript Evaluations

The conference fee includes one free manuscript evaluation (strengths, weaknesses, marketability); one additional evaluation is $25. (Total allowed is two.) Manuscripts must be emailed in advance to be received by May 26; we will not accept any at the conference. However, individual appointments and critique groups provide opportunities for feedback from editors and other writers.

Follow These Guidelines

A manuscript may be one of these:

  • nonfiction article (about 1,500 words maximum)
  • book chapter (first chapter if it’s a novel, about 10 pages maximum)
  • book proposal with first chapter (10-20 pages)
  • short story (about 1,500 words maximum)
  • devotion (or group of short devotions, maximum three)
  • children’s picture book
  • script/short skit (maximum 10 pages)
  • screenplay (first 10 pages)
  • Bible lesson plan (about 10 pages maximum)
  • small group Bible-study session (about 10 pages maximum)
  • group of poems (maximum five)

All manuscripts must be typed double-spaced, 12-point Times Roman/Times New Roman font, with one-inch margins on all sides. Do not combine manuscripts to reach the limit. Include your name, address, and email address on the first page.

Click the links at the top for manuscript format or book proposal outline.

Each manuscript must have a completed cover sheet; click the link at the top to download it. After you fill it out, combine it with your manuscript in one file; do not send separately. Name the file with your name and type of manuscript (e.g., novel chapter, picture book).

Email your manuscript to Jane Rubietta at janerubietta@gmail.com. If you have any questions about manuscripts, email her.

Mail a check for the second manuscript, payable to WordPro, to Lin Johnson, Write-to-Publish Manuscript, 9118 W. Elmwood Dr., Ste. 1G, Niles IL 60714-5820. Or send via PayPal to lin@writetopublish.com; put your name in the note box.

Manuscript Makeovers

If you want a more in-depth critique of a manuscript, Cynthia Ruchti is offering manuscript makeovers. For $40 she will give you a written, detailed critique of your five manuscript pages. Manuscripts must be mailed in advance to be received by June 1; limit one per conferee.
